心の旅:Day 19

Wrote in my diary:
“Sensei loaded the huge gas kiln for glaze firing. Exciting! Finally my first ‘decent’ sized batch of works will be revealed after this.

Managed to throw quite a bit today – plates and vases.

Also my first attempt at tea pot throwing and making the annoying spout. But it’s true that with every attempt it got better/easier.
It really is all about practise. Feels already so much better than before.

Thankful for this space and intensive time to practice and improve.
Feeling of achievement when you get just that one bit better…
is priceless.

Grateful for the opportunity.

Went to PuPu cafe for lunch.

Stopped by a supermarket nearby that M had discovered. More of a little mama/papa shop than big supermarket but it had all the essentials there! Including sweets like mochi/dorayaki for tea.

Talked to the owner and found out he’s a huge Beetles fan. Signs of his love for the Beetles was present everywhere in the shop. He had free hand illustrated their faces onto a mug that was on display by the window. He said he’d drawn it all from memory without referring to any photo of them at the time.

Superb. So funny to think everyone has these incredible interests despite their otherwise ordinary appearing lives.”
