心の旅:Day 39

Wrote in my journal that night:

“Learnt about the kiln – reduction firing, hard reduction, re-oxidation process… all a bit of a blur still but at least I got introduced somewhat to those concepts.
M-san is such a wealth of knowledge! In fact potters in Japan all are.
Just makes me really want to learn so much more in depth about these things.
It’s a whole process, a whole craft. What a beautiful and incredible path.
Blanc and Toro-chan (Tortoise’s temporary name) making friends. Really quite cute.
Helped out with the adjusting the setting for the kiln at 7.30pm! Reached about 500degrees woot. It was a simple task of adjusting the bricks at the back of the gas kiln but apparently it makes a big difference.
Didn’t quite understand the whole thing about draft and dampeners but will get there someday… I think.

Made new red clay teapot which I’m definitely more proud of. Not sure if I should put kohiki on it and risk it or just glaze it with ofuke hmm. Guess shall just see how it goes.”
